SWEET is sweeettt!!!! it is done. yes, i finally did that final seam. and it fits. although, i can't remember which is the front and which is the back. LOL

anyway, in other news.....

i am such a dunce!!! so here i am, almost ready to start the sleeves on sitcom chic. i figure, let me try making a sock, so i can get in some practice with dpns before working on sitcom chic. makes sense, right? well my sad, sorry attempts at working with dpns got me terribly frustrated. then my awkward, brain-dead attempt at working with two circulars made me feel stupid. and yes, i'd already printed out the article Bonne linked to on her site, in fact it was sitting there right next to me! i gave up. it didn't help that i've had a toothache from hell the past 36 hours. i'll try again. and again. and again, if necessary. because now, it's not just learning a new technique...dammit, i'm not gonna let it beat me!!!

ok. so it seems i can't link to pics uploaded to webshots. any suggestions?????

village photos sucks. everything i upload looks like crap, and all pixely. so i'm switching over to webshots. can't complain...its free, and the resolution is great.

here is my new button, courtesy of kerstin:

i see i've gotten several hits from google. i'm curious to know what folks are searching for and my page comes up. how can i find out?

all i have left is one more seam on Sweet, but so far, so good. i'm really happy with the outcome. i tried it on with only one side and sleeve seam completed, and the other side hanging open. sleeves are a perfect length. I had some reservations about them being too long. now, the only reason i've been putting off this final seam, is that my apartment doesn't have the best lighting. i had to rip the first seam three times, doing it in the evening. today it's pretty gloomy and cloudy. but by tomorrow night it will be done, because i want to wear it monday. i swear the knitting goddesses heard me complaining that after all this work, it would be too warm to wear this sweater, well the temps have dipped a little this week, so i will get to wear it. yay!!

has anyone made the flame tie-shoulder tank from Rowan 31? i've just started the armhole shaping on the back, and this funky p2tog tbl is driving me crazy. but i like the way the edge stitches look, so i won't change...but i will complain about it. sitcom chic is coming along smoothly. i'm not up to the sleeves yet. i should be ready for that by monday.

i finished the front and back sleeveless turtleneck from the sirdar pattern below and frogged it. when it came to picking up stitches i did such a horrible, horrible job! i had gaping holes everywhere!!! methinks i need to use a much smaller needle, and maybe tighten up my tension a little bit around the neck.

and that brings me to the Rio t-top. just about finished, except for one thing...yup, you guessed it....picking up around the neckline. this one i am NOT frogging!!! but...still it seems like the # of stitches the pattern calls for to be picked up is not enough.

do any of you guys have tips on picking up stitches around the neck? and how come the # of stitches in a pattern never seem to be enough?

last night i finished sweet; at least the knitting portion. right now (in between surfing the ring) i'm pinning it down and blocking it. oddly enough the pattern specifies to steam press it on the wrong side to block. so i pressed it to eliminate the curling, then misted it with water and pinned it down to my makeshift blocking carpet remnant. if i sew it up tomorrow, i may just get a week or two of wear before it's put away til fall. babygirl's sweater is coming along. i'm not quite sure if i will have enough, but if anything, i will do a crew neck instead of a turtleneck. it is knitting up pretty quickly, considering that i'm using #5 needles.

started a new project for babygirl

i'm using Sirdar Tango DK in lime green that i found in my stash.

the Rio top is almost done. i just need to finish the sleeve cap then block and assemble the pieces. I just loovvvve this part! . then there's sweet, which i plan to finish within a week. if you haven't noticed, my WIP list doesn't go away, it just gets shuffled.

ok, well apparently i had entries sitting on blogger's servers that i neglected to publish. in any case, i've been offline for a week with computer probs. now i'm back. i'm almost done with the front of the Rio top. i just about to start the v-neck shaping. after the front, one more sleeve to do, then it's on to finishing. Rio is 100% rayon, and kinda bulky/slippery. i'm wondering if i should block it, especially since it is a rib pattern. well, i'll cross that bridge when i come to it. i also started a shapely tank from www.whitelies.com i'm midway through the front. i'm learning short row shaping, although i'm not entirely sure how to incorporate it into other patterns, should the need arise. ok, well babygirl is sick, and wants me to rub her tummy, so off i go to be mom. peace.

soooo....is spinning yarn with a spindle hard to do? is there somewhere online where i can see pics? how long does it take? i'd never thought i'd be asking these questions, but i'm damned curious. someone please answer!!!

well this past weekend turned out to be a very non-knitting weekend. picture this...70 degree temps, not a cloud in the sky...needless to say, nature called, and fulfilled my need to be kissed by the sun (and not freeze my cojones off). it was a beautiful weekend. and this week promises to be in the upper 60s every day. i'm sad, because there are sooo many projects i want to make NOW. and i can't. last week i managed to print out patterns from Knitty, put them into clear plastic thingies and put those into a 2" binder. i selected oh, about half a dozen patterns, that i put at the front of the binder. they have priority, if i fall into some extra money soon. currently, my yarn buying budget is a big fat $0. nothing. nada. no exaggeration. with my being unemployed, and unemployment benefits having run out, yarn purchases have fallen into the "someday" realm. (but i can still lust, can't i?) in any case, i have a few unfinished items that will keep me knitting, at least until the end of the month.

ok. its a toss up between bob and sitcom chic. the gauge is interchangeable, and i have both Cotton Ease and All Seasons Cotton....so hard to decide. well, why not make TWO of BOTH?!

05 March 2003

i am finally working on the front of Sweet. i fought with this damn piece all weekend. i primarily use the long-tail cast on, and usually i'm on point with estimating how much of a tail to leave behind. well not this weekend. it took several tries, and several recounts to get it all together. but now that Knitty is up, i'm being teased and tormented. i plan to make sitcom chic, and bob and janda. i want to make it in the orangeade shade of Cotton Ease, which i just happen to already have in my stash. ok, well maybe not 6 skeins, but enough to get a good start. LOL ahhh...the pleasures of "startitis". as a matter of fact, being that temps for the next week will be in the upper 60s - low 70s i'm not that enthused about working on sweet anymore, but still i want to get it done!

01 March 2003

i started a new project. i've had some KFI Rio sitting in my stash since last year. i'd started one project with it (twice) Classic Elite #865. i really wasn't happy with the results, so i put it aside. on thursday, i started again, this time using Classic Elite #866. it is a simple v-neck t-shirt in a ribbed pattern (they call it pepper stitch). i really like how its coming out. Rio is a very slinky, very slippery 100% viscose yarn. it is variegated purple, pink and lime. sounds awful, but it looks really good. (i really wish i had a digital camera!) it is somewhat bulky as well, with very little give. i'm almost through with the armhole shaping on the back, and it is already getting heavy in my hands. i started casting on for sweet, but it was late, (and dark) so i put that aside until later today.
