let's see. i frogged the entire Rio top i'd started....apparently i hadn't cast on the right # of stitches. no wonder it was going so fast! then i checked the back of my daughter's sweater, and i have too many stitches....so apparently the raglan shaping is not complete. but the other sleeve is done, so i just have to go back to the back and finish that piece. katia cardie still waiting for me to finish. i did manage to get a few rows done. once these two projects are complete i will cast on for the "Sweet" sweater that Gwen (Hobby Whore) made. it is a rowan pattern in the Ultimate Knitters Guide book.

i'm thinking i'm gonna use the red woolease i bought for 3TimesChic. can't wait to wear that one.

on another note...can i be going thru early menopause?? it's what 65 degrees outside, and i've just turned on the AC.

|

i did work on that cardie sleeve... really, i did...just not much. instead i got further along with babygirl's sweater. halfway through the sleeves, then joining the pieces together, then the neckband. did i mention it will be a while before i do stripes again? not hard, just a little annoying, that's all.

26 October 2002

oh. and i got the "Hollywood Knits" book. more stuff to add to the WIM list.

|

ok. so the Rio T-top moves from WIM to WIP. So far I like this yarn, it has a real smooth, silky feel, and very drapey.

|

and another thing. i still haven't found a friggin zipper for my cardie (sorry rebecca), which makes the urge to procrastinate even stronger. oh well, the search continues! i *did* get a disposable camera to start shooting my FOs. i'll get to it next week. i think.

|

my list of WIPs has changed. see, when i'm dissatisfied with a project, or i'm just not feelin' it anymore it goes to the bottom of the bin. maybe to marinate for a minute, or maybe to be frogged. i bought yarn. i wasn't supposed to, but i did anyway. nice bright woolease chunky. i'm thinking a nice chunky ribbed turtleneck. but i think i'll let that marinate a little bit as well.

the chinchilla scarf is half done. i need to buy some yarn for the fringe. i can't wait to make another one in lovely purple. or maybe red. hmmm.....

still haven't completed that final 1/2 sleeve. it WILL be done by this weekend. can you tell i'm a master procrastinator??

|

22 October 2002

worked a little bit on the chinchilla scarf. not too crazy about this variegation after all. but my daughter likes it, so that's all that matters. i originally wanted a pink/purple variegated mix, but all they had left at my LYS was the teal/blue/purple mix. gonna use berroco glace in the same colors for the fringe. she should enjoy this. i *still* haven't finished that last 1/2 sleeve. i also have a sleeve left to do on my daughter's sweater. what is it with me and sleeves? well, for the next week or so, I will concentrate on putting these three items on the FO list.

17 October 2002

today's mail had such a treat. i ordered "A Treasury of Rowan Knits". a collection of 80 rowan knit patterns. on my first pass thru the book, i've already bookmarked 30 patterns. some of the yarns used have been discontinued...but that's okay. that's where ebay comes in!

still haven't gotten back to that last 1/2 sleeve. some time between tonight and tomorrow i'll finish the sleeve and block it. i was browsing my LYS for about an hour today. do you ever go to your LYS with a specific purchase in mind, then when you get inside, you lose all sense and sensibility and wander around fondling yarns and completely lose track of the original reason you went in the first place? happens to me all the dayum time.

|

almost done with the Katia cardie. 1/2 sleeve and sew in both sleeves. i assembled the front and back. i realized that one of the cardie fronts was too small. thank god for blocking!! i *eased* it out somewhat to match the back portion, and the opposite front. looks fine to me. using such a bulky yarn, i think i finally grasped the concept of seaming, and did a damn good job, if i must say so myself.

|

16 October 2002

i'm a chicken. i haven't started putting together my cardie. sounds like a cop-out, but i'm too sleepy and cranky to do a good job, so that will have to wait until i'm in the mood for it. plus, i haven't found a zipper either. :-(

i guess i'll work on babygirl's sweater, that's another project i'm getting tired of looking at.

|

fixed my comments box. hopefully all is well now.

|

the katia cardi (minus the sleeves) is finished blocking. i figure i can sew up the shoulders while the sleeves are being blocked, then do the sleeves. i haven't found a zipper yet either. i need to remember to stop at joann's today and look for one.

|

14 October 2002

1/2 sleeve left to go on the Katia cardi. then comes the dreaded sewing up; and even worse--the zipper. i'm not gonna freak out about it, just take my time, and be prepared to rip it out. went back to work on my daughter's raglan sweater. i'm halfway done with the front. funny....i thought i was doing a sleeve, and i started increasing, so i had to remember to decrease on the next row. it was only 1 stitch on each side, so it should be okay. in between knitting sessions, i am winding yarn into balls. yuk! what a tedious pain in the butt. i'm using a nostepinde, which makes it a little faster, but it's still a pain. i want a ball winder. (preferably automatic, if there is such a thing) anything to make winding yarn easier!

11 October 2002

got some new patterns. one is a cardigan for babygirl. she picked out the color--purple of course--in Intermezzo DK. it has a lace border around the bottom. first time doing lace for me (yikes!). i also had to buy a hank of Berroco Monet, because i've been eyeing it a while. i'm gonna make a swatch, and see what it wants to be.

am i the only "financially-challenged" person who doesn't buy the entire amount of yarn needed for a particlar project? i buy what i can when i can. of course, that leaves me in "dye-lot limbo", but i've been lucky so far. the stuff i've gotten off ebay is more than enough for a single garment, so no problems there.

oh!! i got my classic elite patterns...straight from the manufacturer. apparently someone from their company lurks on the knitlist. i made mention that i was looking for two particular patterns which none of my LYSs had. i got an email last week from Classic Elite last week stating that they would send them to me if I called their 800#. so i did. and they did. i received them today. now, whats cool about these patterns is that they are customizable. DK--Worsted--Heavy Worsted--Bulky yarns; short sleeves, no sleeves, 3/4 sleeves, long sleeves; v-neck, round neck, turtleneck; fitted or straight fit.

also in the mail...i received "The Yarn Girls Guide to Simple Knits". Nice book. Nice stuff. Basic, but cool. i like it.

07 October 2002

this is the Patons Zip Cardigan that i'm working on, using Katia Colorado in a pea green color. all that's left are the sleeves. can't wait til it's done!

test

|

just finished the right front of my Katia Cardigan. the lime capri tank shell is finished blocking, and i'm getting ready to sew the side seams (wish me luck!). ran out of fisherman wool...so can't get back to work on that one. it's still hot out, and i'm wondering if i can pull off one more summery top before it gets too cold.

|

having a hard time posting here. this is a test. i think if i click on "publish" 2x it will work.

|

more ebay goodies. i got some Rowan DK Soft in jet black, and also received a "bonus skein" of baby blue. i also received Rowan 31 and the Cork book. of course, i'm having a hard time deciding what to add to the growing WIP list, if anything at all. hmmm....maybe i can whip up a lil something for Knitty? i've never designed anything before. in fact, i've never even altered a pattern before! think i can actually design a wearable garment?
